Current grant opportunities

Youth Week 2020
​
Closes: 4.00 pm (AWST) 26 September 2019
The Department of Communities is currently seeking applications for the Youth Week WA 2020 Grants Program.
Funding of up to $1,000 for individual events and up to $3,000 for collaborative community-wide events will be available for eligible organisations to host an event during Youth Week WA 2020, 17-24 April 2020.

​Regional Economic Development Grants
Closes:...13 September 2019 (Round 2)
For: The RED Grants program is a State Government initiative that invests in community driven projects to create jobs and boost economic growth across regional Western Australia.
The State Government's Royalties for Regions program will invest $28.8 million towards the RED Grants program over five years for projects that will directly benefit regional communities. 
Each of the Regional Development Commissions (RDC) manage the grant round process for their region, and will provide advice to applicants during the application process.
Eligible applicants can apply for RED Grant funding of up to $250,000 for individual projects that promote sustainable jobs, partnerships, productivity, skills and capability, as well as stimulate new investment in industry diversification.

Community and Industry Engagement Grants to help Reduce Waste
Closes:. 10am 23 September 2019
For: Applications are open for funding projects that contribute to the State's waste strategy
Projects that improve the recovery and reuse of waste materials such as plastics, glass, construction and demolition materials, food organics and garden organics; as well as those that encourage behaviour change are encouraged to apply for a funding grant.
A successful recipient in the last CIE funding round was the Repair Café Fremantle, for its free community repair service for household items.

Strengthening Rural Communities: Small and Vital Grants
Closes:..5.00pm (AEST) Tuesday 24 September
For: Small and Vital grants are all about meeting an immediate small scale need within a community, or for giving a boost to a larger initiative.
The Small and Vital grants provide funds of up to $10,000.
Applications are accepted year round and awarded quarterly.

Community Garden Grants Program
Closes: 3 October 2019
Funding of up to $10,000 per community garden is available for local governments and community organisations to plan, develop and implement a community garden project.

Preventing Violence against Women and their Children Grants: Community-led Projects
Closes: .9 October 2019
For:Grants of $350,000 to $550,000 are available to support innovative and community-led primary prevention activities for particular cohorts, groups or communities that challenge the underlying social, economic and political conditions, as well as historical and cultural factors that allow violence-supportive attitudes and behaviours to thrive.
The Community-led Projects to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children Grant supports organisations to work directly with communities to develop and implement targeted primary prevention projects that empower people to challenge violence-supportive attitudes and behaviours, promote gender equality, and form respectful, equal relationships – personally, professionally, and socially.

 ​Active Regional Communities Grants
Closes:.Ongoing
For: These grants of up to $5,000 aim to increase the opportunities for regional people to participate in sporting and active recreational activities in regional Western Australia and is tailored to meet the ever changing demands and challenges of sport and active-recreation groups within the nine diverse regions of Western Australia.

Bankwest Easy Grants
Closes: Ongoing
For: Bankwest is offering grants of up to $1,000 eligible* community groups. The first 40 Easy Grant applications received each month that meet the entry criteria will be up for public vote. The six groups with the highest number of votes will receive $1,000 each. The remaining groups will receive $200 each.

​Community Capacity Building

For: Grants of up to $30,000 are available for activities that promote the participation and active engagement of Western Australian communities in arts and culture.
Activities must deliver on one or more of the following objectives:
  • promoting or facilitating greater engagement of WA communities in arts and culture;
  • delivering artistic, cultural and social outcomes for the community through the arts;
  • providing opportunities for communities to create and share their stories;
  • encouraging communities to engage with and express their culture; and/or
  • increasing the relevance and accessibility of arts and culture within communities

Community Development Fund

For:  The objectives of the fund are to:
  • Provide financial assistance for organisations and/or projects which benefit the community.
  • To assist community-based (not for profit) organisations to develop and maintain facilities.
  • To provide community-based (not for profit) organisations with relief from Council imposed fees and charges.

​Community Engagement

For: Grants of up to $5,000 are available for initiatives that aim to strengthen the skills and abilities of communities to take leading roles in the development of their community, and that respond to specific needs and issues identified by the community.

For: Grants of $2,000 to $10,000 are offered to NFPs committed to creating long-term change for the good of our people and planet. Support falls into three areas:
  • Adventure-based social development
  • Environmental projects
  • Ethical manufacturing

Ravensthorpe Hopetoun Future Fund

For:
The Ravensthorpe Hopetoun Future Fund was established in 2011 by the Shire of Ravensthorpe. There is an annual funding program for community capacity building which opens in March each year.

Road Safety Event Grants

For: To further encourage community groups to participate in road safety, grants of $50 - 1,000 are available for road-safety events.

For: Funding up to $50,000 is available for capacity building projects that benefit CaLD communities such as those from new and emerging communities, women, seniors, young people and regional communities.
Projects may relate, but are not limited, to the following focus areas:

  • parenting
  • employment and skills development
  • leadership
  • financial literacy
  • health and wellbeing
  • support for regional communities.

​Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) Grants

For: Helps communities access the resources they need to support one another through the ongoing effects of the drought.
This program is designed to provide flexible funding to support community-based activities that both help to relieve current stressors and symptoms, and most importantly, build capacity and resilience for the future. Funds could also support activities that engage your local community in being proactive, exploring options and creating something that will stand the test of tough times.
